Early Bank holiday Monday, seemed a good time to visit Orac at Grand Designs live. The stand is showcasing the new Ulf Moritz range of mouldings, including coving cornice, skirting board, dado / panel and decorative mouldings. Retailed by House Martin Interiors, this is range is an innovation in contemporary mouldings. Our early arrival was well timed as by 11:30am it had become quite busy. This is a show I can highly recommend with lots of interesting developments. A vast improvement on the Ideal Home Exhibition earlier in the year.

An excellent show for Orac at Fabre 13 with much interest in the new Ulf Moritz collection. Coving Cornice, Dado, Skirting Board and Decorative Mouldings. The new beer range with its colourful labels was on show as well. Not sure how much was left after the event. House Martin Online revised home page

We have just revised our House Martin Online home page. This should make it more user friendly, putting the most popular products at the top and introducing a 'Polaroid' for the new Ulf Moritz collection. Don't forget to scroll down though as there are some great products for improving the home further down. Some of the smaller ceiling roses and smaller lengths of Box in Pipes can now be sent by post at a reduced cost. Michael.

More snow this morning, but we are not expecting this to cause delays to our deliveries. Driveways may need clearing but the roads seem fairly ok. So phone us and place those orders for our lovely ceiling roses, coving cornice, skirting and architrave, and all our architectural mouldings.
Ulf Moritz moulding profiles

Six new profiles have been added to our range. This range designed by Ulf Moritz for Orac Decor will soon have its own home page. These are contemporary coving cornice, dado / panel moulding and skirting board such as you will not see available from any other manufacturer. With these products Orac Decor won the AIT Trend 2013 Award. View the first six of these mouldings on our Retail site blog.

We have a new adhesives guide pdf shortly to be added to our 'Downloads' page. This is an update of our seven year old guide, so rather overdue. There is no material change, just a better format in a table form to more clearly explain which adhesives to use with which products.
January 2013 Refurbishments

After a lull end of December sales and enquiries have started to grow. Hardly surprising, who in their right mind is going to install coving etc. when the Christmas decorations are up! There are of course some refurbishments carrying on and pleased we are. So now the decorations are coming down and rooms seem a little lack lustre, redecorate and add coving or our other mouldings to improve your home.

Paint for Orac Mouldings

Oil based paints can sometimes take a very long time to dry on polyurethane products, staying tacky. We would not recommend these paints, but suggest water based or acrylic. Often the tins are not clear as to the formulation. The easiest way to tell is with the cleaning of the brushes. If white spirit is recommended it is usually oil based, so we suggest you avoid these paints.

These are great products with many advantages over plaster and fibrous cement coving and cornice. Are you ready for Christmas?

Well we are and we have lots of stock for those pre-Christmas and post-Christmas projects. With only three weeks to go though it may be time to get your coving and cornice in, to either complete before the Christmas break, or to be ready immediately after. Don't forget our invaluable sample service all supplied with a full brochure. Sample boxes with a selection of the most popular mouldings are also available, useful when helping customers choose a design. And of course for volume users and trade's people discounts can be negotiated.

We are gradually updating the text on many of our House Martin Online pages. This is to improve the explanation of the products and their advantages over traditional materials such as plaster coving, fibrous cement and paper lined. This has started with the Luxxus Cornice selector page and Axxent Coving selector page which are now done and the main Coving & Cornice selector page which is shortly to be listed. Uplighter coving

For our uplighter coving C361, C362 and C364 we can supply LED lighting at very competitive prices. Check out our sister site House Martin Interiors where these are supplied. The LED lighting page offers a range of options and the power supplies to match. The LED tape comes in 5m lengths which can be joined by plug and play connectors and can also be cut and rejoined. Just choose the correct power supply for the length. This makes for the easiest LED lighting we know.

Joan Armatrading at Brighton Dome.
All the classics and some brilliant new work. A delight to hear the originality of a true singer songwriter performing her own work. Her voice may not be as good as in the past but the performance is, and her guitar playing impressive. Joan Armatradings new album, Starlight, of which she played some songs is every bit as good as her classics, fusing folk, jazz and rock with poignant vocals. If you get the chance to see her tour, go!

Remembrance Sunday, Herbie Flowers Jazz Breakfast at the Brighton Dome.
Herbie Flowers and his band appeared at the Brighton today playing his usual great live jazz. Herbie is a born live performer with a brilliant wit. It is a shame there is not the regular slot at the Dome as he would like, for a player of his standing and humour. That's the thing I love about jazz, the fun. The last number 'Caravan' was played out to perfection. However there is more to come in the new year. Sunday breakfast with a coffee listening to Jazz.
