Interior Coving and Cornice was once the preserve of the affluent, and typically found in Stately Homes featuring incredible detail, the result of hours of work by skilled craftsmen. Plaster cornices were typically installed in rooms with high ceilings, creating an opportunity to feature a vast array of elaborate designs.
These varied from floral decals, classical friezes, dentil block styles, or mixed curved and straight edges blended to produce bold decoration.
Victorian's often used simpler cornice styles and panel mouldings some 2 feet or so below the ceiling as a picture rail. Simple clasps would hook over the moulding and be used to display family portraits, and artworks.
Today's home owner may require simple coving, or even look to re-create the elaborate designs of yesteryear. The Orac range of coving offers unparalleled choice, which spans this spectrum. Simple concave coving is the predominant style in the majority of modern homes. Homeowners looking for simple coving designs can choose from a small coving section such as the 50 x 50mm C210 design, or try the popular C217 design which arcs across at 155mm.
Our interior coving and cornice is ideal for putting the finishing touches to an Orangery or a grand conservatory.
In addition the Axxent range has a variety of coving styles, from 45mm x 45mm, through to 120 x 120mm. The latest addition to this successful range eliminates the need for fiddly mitre joints, as the CX.100 coving is now available with click fit internal and external corner pieces. Coving couldn't be simpler to install!
Whichever Orac cornice is chosen they all offer a far greater durability than fragile plaster alternatives, and sharper details which are unachievable from polystyrene systems. Used in conjunction with Orac ceiling roses modern interiors can be transformed to give a classical appeal.
Bay window areas and alcoves create immense installation difficulties for traditional cornice systems. Orac flexi takes all these headaches away. Each "Decor" cornice can be supplied in a flexible material that can be formed on site.
Product Selection - Choosing the right design is easy! Just call or e-mail us if you see a design which looks suitable. We will despatch your free samples by 1st class post, for approval. Typically we can then supply sufficient for most redecoration or new build projects within a matter of days. Try us and see!
Recommendations: Orac Decor Range - Always use Orac DecoFix PRO to achieve the highest standard of installation. Use Orac Fix EXTRA for perfect joints when cornices and panel joints are glued together. Do not paint over Orac approved adhesives for 24 hours for the best results. Select an appropriate MitreBox to achieve the best angled corners. Use Orac Decor for the sharpest detailing.
Recommendations: Orac Axxent Range - Use Orac Axxent as a cost effective alternative to polystyrene for plain mouldings, where sharp details are less important. Use Orac DecoFix PRO adhesive for all installations and joints.
